HSE Professional Course for NYSC Corp member in Nigeria,

With the current economic trend in the country, it is very important that every Corp member of the National Youth Service Corp and prospects in Nigeria should equip themselves with professional courses while serving during their one-year compulsory service in Nigeria.

 HSE professional course is one of the best professional courses every youth Corp member should acquire before their one-year compulsory service runs to an end because this is going to give them an edge immediately after the service year by helping their certification and in turn aid their job search in Nigeria.

What is HSE?

The word HSE is an acronym for Health, Safety and Environmental Management. It involves managing, controlling and handling all aspects of health safety and environment, in the petroleum industry with focuses on major accident risk.

HSE is regarded as the most significant certification training in various fields such as Engineering, science, technology, oil and gas, art, medicine, administration, management and banking and finance.

HSE course provides participants with knowledge, skills, and solid training in practices of occupational health and safety, emergency planning and also environmental management.

At the end of the course, successful candidates stand a 95% of being selected for employment or promotion.

HSE levels, there are 3 levels under the UK standard to be qualified as a safety officer, it includes:

1.     Level 1(Award in health and Safety at work) – this level is suitable for beginners or anyone in the workplace environment. It provides the starting point at which more detailed training in level 2 can follow.

2.     Level 2 (Risk Assessment Practical Application) – this level of qualification is designed to help improve or enable learners to understand the basic principles of risk assessment.

3.     Level 3 (Award in Environmental Awareness) – this course is suitable for everyone whose activities could have a significant impact on the environment.

Qualifications

Everybody is eligible to offer this course but for Nigeria youth Corpers a valid NYSC id card.

Course duration and cost of offering the course

The HSE course is a 4days training course that covers the following topics:

Day 1(Level 1)

• ·        Introduction to health and safety
• ·        International  and local health, safety legislation, and policies
• ·        Understanding types of hazard and Control Measures

Day 2 (Level 2)

• ·        Permit to work
• ·        Safety signs and symbols
• ·        Personal Protective Equipment
• ·        Lock out Tag Out Work Procedures

Day 3 (Level 3)

·        Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

·        Crisis Management and Security Awareness

·        Risk Assessment and applications

·        Accident Investigation and Emergency Response

Day 4 (Level 3)

• ·        Introduction to Environmental Awareness
• ·        Fire safety application
• ·        Basic first Aid and applications
• 
  

The total cost of running the programme is N40,000 and which can be paid in installments. This cost covers the training; UK HSE all levels.

Payment can be paid in installment by paying N15,000 before training, and the balance of N25,000 before exams date. This usually comes up two weeks after completion of the training.
